As per usual, I have a big Currys summer coming up. We just released our full schedule and it’s gonna be good. There are a lot of big things on the horizon, but I don’t want to give anything away right now. This is mostly an obligatory update. I neglected to update this site for the entire month of April. Time sure flies. How was your April? Mine was good. I played a lot of music around Virginia. And one time in West Virginia. Stay tuned and I promise my next post will have more tasty tidbits.

I recently released an album entitled “The Way the World Works”. For those of you who have heard it, you know that the title track is not quite a full song. It lasts approximately 30 seconds and then if it’s not continued into the tune “Man in Love With You” as intended, it abruptly stops. Granted, this isn’t exactly knowledge that one is born with, but here’s a pretty funny result of not knowing:“The Way the World Works” on air

To reunite with my back-up band and to be able to play more frequently with The Currys, I’ve returned to Charlottesville, VA. We’ll see how permanent the move actually is, but I’m very excited to be able to play music around the wonderful state of Virginia again. I’ll be around solo, playing as a duo with my cousin Jimmy Curry, and playing with a full band. Hope to see you around!

The 5th Annual Beds Black Friday Extravaganza

It’s been a little while since I’ve had any blog-worthy shows to tell everyone about, but the time has come! I look forward to Thanksgiving every year for the family time, good food, and rock & roll. This year marks the 5th annual Beds Thanksgiving show and it’s gonna be a good one. It’s always fun to see what kind of show we can put on after having not played together since the year before and we are trying out a whole collection of new tunes this time around. We’ll play some original songs, but mostly stick to the classic Beds way of playing fun covers. ALSO, we are lucky enough to have The Currys along with us for some extra vocal power. It should be a blast. We’ll be at Maxfields in Potsdam, NY on the 23rd of November starting around 10pm! Check it out on Facebook.

I’ll be playing a solo show on the 16th at the Blackbird Cafe in Canton, NY. Jimmy will join me for most of that night.

Back in the USA/Big show in C-ville

The tour of Ireland was ridiculous. We met so many great people, played a bunch of well received shows, and explored the beautiful countryside. It was too much fun to explain accurately in something as lame as this blog. So, on The Currys’ Facebook page and Twitter account we kept track of our travels in picture form to tide you over until the From the Heart Music Hour documentary is released.

I’m back in Austin for the time being recovering from a busy summer of gigs and traveling. The next big musical event that you should all be aware of is taking place in good ol’ Charlottesville, VA. This show will serve as a CD release party for The Way The World Works and as a farewell show for my good friends in The Rock River Gypsies and Elliewood. It should be quite the celebration and your attendance will only make it sweeter. Feel free to RSVP on Facebook and buy tickets online before they all sell out!

Heading to Ireland

The time has come! Today is my final day in the states before running off to Ireland for a 3-week tour with The Currys. We’ll be playing 14 shows in 3 weeks and filming a documentary about our adventures. It’s gonna be a blast. I hope to keep the updates flowing and post a bunch of pictures/videos, so stay tuned!

Also, since I’ll be traveling, I’m not going to be able to ship out orders for t-shirts and CDs in any kind of timely fashion. BUT while I’m gone, you can still order from CD Baby or get the “pay what you want” digital download over at Bandcamp.

The Way the World Works

After months of writing, planning, kickstarting, arranging, rehearsing, recording, mixing, mastering, designing, fretting, and stressing, I can finally say that my second studio album is ready to be released to the world! It feels good. I owe all the folks who helped out with the Kickstarter another huge thank you, and I hope that all your rewards packages arrived safely.

I’m trying something new with this record and making it available with the “pay what you want” model. Personally, I’m a big fan of holding a record’s packaging in my hands and checking it out while I listen (which is certainly still an option), but I’d rather people download the tunes and listen than be dissuaded by what they see as an unfair price. This has been done a lot by other musicians in the recent past, but for me it’ll be an interesting experiment. I’ll be offering these downloads through my Bandcamp site. The record will also be available through iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and the other usual suspects, but Bandcamp will be the only one offering the “pay what you want” option. You can also order physical copies of the record and some brand new t-shirts through the same site, so check it out and spread the word!

In other news, everything is going really well down here in Florida with The Currys. We are keeping very busy gigging, recording, and gearing up for Ireland. We were recently selected for a contest that will send us to Nashville for the Americana Music Festival if we win. The final round is decided by fan vote, so if you feel so inclined, we’d love if you would give your vote to The Currys! You can vote once a day until August 17^th. Alright!
